Scholarship Application Process
Kids’ Chance of Tennessee is dedicated to financially helping young people in our state pursue higher education at a university, college or vocational school who have had a parent catastrophically injured or killed in a work related accident. We will make a difference in their lives through hope, opportunity and the providing of educational scholarships. Please help us fulfill our mission through donations and help in identifying scholarship applicants. Kids’ Chance of Tennessee is one of many state chapters affiliated with the national organization Kids’ Chance of America.
Who is eligible?
The Kids’ Chance of Tennessee Scholarship Program awards scholarships to dependent children of a parent or guardian who has been seriously, catastrophically or fatally injured as a result of a work-related accident that meets the criteria of the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Act and that has resulted in a substantial financial need. Scholarship recipients must also meet the following requirements:
- Must be a legal resident of the State of Tennessee
- A dependent of a parent or guardian who has suffered a serious or catastrophic injury and/or permanent disability, or was fatally injured as a result of a work-related accident
- Must be between the ages of 16 – 25 years old
- Must be able to demonstrate substantial financial need
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary school (university, technical college, etc.)
- Must demonstrate superior academic achievement and aptitude
What are the application requirements?
- Scholarships are awarded each semester and students must submit transcripts each semester to requalify. Students must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
- All applications are subject to review by the Scholarship Committee and approval of the Kids’ Chance of Tennessee Board of Trustees.
